What are Omega-3s.

Omega-3s are essential fatty acids, these nutrients regulate the body's production of cholesterol, and strengthen cell walls, fortifying them against the invasion of viruses and bacteria. They are essential nutrients for the development of the brain and retina, and in infant development. They improve immune functions, they alleviate arthritis symptoms and inflammation, and they lower the risk for cardiovascular disease. Omega-3 fatty oils can also prevent or delay the development of cancer and related tumors and may improve bone growth.

Omega-3s are found in fish oil, krill oil and some plant oils and have been found to lower the risk of heart attack and stroke, and may boosts the immune system. On September 8, 2004, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) gave "qualified health claim" status to Omega-3 EPA and DHA n−3 fatty acids, stating that "supportive but not conclusive research shows that consumption of Omega-3 EPA and DHA [n−3] fatty acids may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease.

Although omega-3 fatty acids have been known as essential to normal growth and health since the 1930s, awareness of their health benefits has dramatically increased in the past few years.

The health benefits of the long-chain omega-3 fatty acids — DHA and EPA omega-3 — are the best known. These benefits were discovered in the 1970s by researchers studying the Greenland Inuit Tribe whose people consumed large amounts of fat from seafood, but displayed virtually no cardiovascular disease. The high level of omega-3 fatty acids consumed by the Inuit reduced triglycerides, heart rate, blood pressure and atherosclerosis.

The Mayo Clinic states that:
“Fish contain unsaturated fatty acids, which, when substituted for saturated fatty acids such as those in meat, may lower your cholesterol. But the main beneficial nutrient appears to be omega-3 fatty acids in fatty fish. Omega-3 fatty acids are a type of unsaturated fatty acid that's thought to reduce inflammation throughout the body. Omega-3 fatty acids are also believed to improve learning ability in children, decrease triglycerides, lower blood pressure, reduce blood clotting, enhance immune function and improve arthritis symptoms. Consuming one to two servings a week of fish, particularly fish that's rich in omega-3 fatty acids, appears to reduce the risk of heart disease, particularly sudden cardiac death.”

What makes PUR3 Omega-3 oil different from other Omega-3 oils?

Regular fish oils contain about 30% Omega-3s, of which roughly 18% is EPA and 12% DHA. The remaining 70%, a varying mixture of other components, is often not even identifiable in the Supplement Facts Box of the finished products. In other words, regular fish oil contains less than a third of desired active ingredients and more than two thirds of “other” components. These may include cholesterol, Omega-6, saturated fatty acids, oxidation products, contaminants and other nonessential components.

PUR3 is an ultra pure 90% Omega-3 supplement. Omega-3 is known to help maintain overall health while specifically targeting cardiovascular, cognitive and joint function.

PUR3 delivers a high quality, concentrated dose of Omega-3 and is 300% more potent than fish oil supplements found in retail outlets. PUR3 contains extraordinarily high amounts of the essential unsaturated fatty acids; 60% EPA and 20% DHA as compared to 18% EPA and 12% DHA with retail store brands.

The process used in PUR3 Omega-3 capsules is the designed, developed and patented use of Super Critical Fluid (SCF) technology for the extraction and purification of Poly Unsaturated Fatty Acids (PUFAs), particularly Omega-3s.This process is branded the kd-pür technology. The kd-pür technology involves a two-step process for extracting and refining highly purified Omega-3s from fish oil:

  • Without excessive heat
  • Without the use of chemical solvents
  • In the absence of oxygen
